Why Muslim Women’s Day 2024 is a Sentimental One

We are commemorating the alignment of our 8th Muslim Women’s Day with Ramadan for one of the last times in our era with the theme “Iman”.

Why Muslim Women’s Day 2024 is a Sentimental One

Our 8th annual global campaign for Muslim Women’s Day aligns with both Women’s History Month and Ramadan for one of the last times in our era. In this year’s campaign, we are focusing on the intersectionality of these three major cultural moments taking place during the most important month of the year for Muslims, during which our community reflects on the meaning of faith in our lives. Our campaign theme is aptly titled “Iman,” the Islamic concept of faith, in memory of Iman Al-Khatahtbeh, whose generational strength in womanhood lives on through her daughter Amani and inspired the campaign we cherish today.

Muslim Women’s Day is our annual call to action for allies across social media and IRL to center our voices for the day in a unified action against misrepresentation.

2024 Muslim Women’s Day campaign theme: “IMAN”(Faith)

This year’s theme reflects the intersectionality of March 2024 for us. Muslim Women’s Day 2024 is a special occasion as it is one of the last times this cultural moment coincides with both Women’s History Month and Ramadan. “Iman” is the Arabic word for faith, and it’s also the name of our founder Amani’s mother who passed away in July 2023. This year’s theme is in her memory while honoring the spirit of Ramadan. By design, Iman is a far-reaching theme that invites us all to reflect on the ways that faith surfaces in different facets of our lives — from self-care, beauty, and fashion, to social justice, girls’ education, career empowerment, and beyond.

We especially invite stories around motherhood, such as the special bond between mother/daughter/child, reproductive justice, and maternal health. Faith intends to be a widely inclusive theme that taps into a variety of topics that resonate with our community.
